Pandasal is the famous Filipino bread roll that is sweet, comforting, and perfect for breakfast or a snack. I love enjoying pandasal while it is warm with some butter on it and with a hot coffee. I literally dream about pandasal I love it so much! It always brings me back to the Philippines, and waking up to the smell of fresh pandasal for the bakery down the street (if you know, you know).
Pandasal is a traditional Filipino sweet bread roll. It is similar to a dinner, but its sweeter and denser. It is delicious, and I never get tired of it. It is also affordable to make and not that difficult. It is honestly one of the easy bread recipes that I make, and probably my favorite one to make.
You can also make different varieties of pandasal. You can make them ube flavored, pandan, cheese, meat filled, and many others. You can get creative and make any type, really. There are some many reasons why I love pandasal and why you have to try making them!
How to make pandasal
The secret to making pandasal nice and fluffy is the yeast mixture and the type of flour used. Make sure that the yeast mixture is activated properly before adding it to the dough. This is to make sure the rolls rise perfectly, making them nice and fluffy. For the flour, I like to use a mix of all purpose flour and bread flour. The bread flour is going to help make the bread nice and soft.
This recipe doesn’t require a ton of ingredients which is nice! All you need is:
- Yeast mixed with sugar and warm water
- All purpose flour and bread flour
- Sugar, salt, and baking powder
- Milk butter and eggs
- Bread crumbs for topping
That’s it!
Just combine everything properly and form into the dough. Then let it rise, form into balls, top with bread crumbs, let rise one more time, then bake. Now you have warm, delicious, soft, fluffy pandasal rolls!
